The Education Foundation regularly recognizes outstanding educators as our Teachers of the Month! These great teachers have utilized the Foundation’s grants program to acquire new tools that will help their students excel.
This month we are recognizing Virginia Castillo-Vera and Melissa Messerly of Carver Early Education Center, and Amanda Diaz of Lockhart High School. Information on their Education Foundation grant programs is listed below.

Carver Early Education Center – Virginia Castillo-Vera and Melissa Messerly
“Science Exploration and Sensory Play”
Pre-kindergarten students will learn to use various play-based sensory manipulatives on a light table. This will help strengthen a child’s brain development and build neurological pathways.
Lockhart High School – Amanda Diaz
“Certified Emergency Response Team”
Students will use the certified emergency kits for training purposes and drills. Once certified, they can be qualified to help in actual emergency responses.
